12 Hit US TV Shows You Never Knew Doctor Who Actors Were In

9. Private Practice

Doctor Who isn't the only show that's created its own successful spin offs, you know! The hit ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy is responsible for spawning more than just the irreplaceable MerDer romance as back in 2007 one of its leading stars - neonatal surgeon Addison Montgomery, played by Kate Walsh - escaped the convulsive confines of Seattle Grace Hospital to start a new life doing exactly the same thing in LA with a new bunch of people in Private Practice. While there was just one familiar face for long term fans of Grey's, another one came along for Doctor Who fans in 2011 when Alex Kingston guest starred as Marla Tompkins, a critic and therapist. Although she only appeared in two episodes, she definitely got tongues wagging... and in more ways than one, too. Which is so unlike her.
