7. The Leftovers
Fans were left disheartened in 2013 when Christopher Eccleston oped to remove himself from Doctor Who's 50th anniversary festivities but for a man who doesn't like to bathe in the same river twice, he sure as hell does enjoy getting wet... so to speak. That's because the Northern star is no stranger to formidable franchises (Heroes, Thor, G.I. Joe... the list goes on and on!) and his latest contribution to the coveted world of cult creations has been cited as one of his most impressive performances to date. The Ninth Doctor actor appears in the hit HBO series The Leftovers, co-created by Lost's Damon Lindelof, as Matt Jamison, a former reverend and editor of a self-published tabloid who struggles to accept why he, as a devout Christian, wasn't taken during a Sudden Departure which resulted in 2% of the world's population vanishing with no explanation. The first season aired to critical acclaim last year and, if you missed out on the party, you've still got time to catch up (and trust us, you totally should!) before Season 2 hits the small screen later this year. Don't be left out of The Leftovers...
