Darkseid is without a doubt one of DC’s most popular villains ever. No matter the medium, every time he enters a storyline, you know that the threat is level is about to be amped up to a universal level. After seizing control of his home world Apokolips and taking hold of a power known as the Omega Force, Darkseid began a reign of terror that threatened just about every good guy out there.

The best screen adaptation for the ruler of Apokolips arguably came during the final arc of Justice League Unlimited.

The show had been critically acclaimed all throughout its run, for both the content and the massive roster of heroes on offer. Their final foe, was none other than Darkseid.

In his failed attempts at reviving Brainiac, Lex Luthor brings back Mr. Granite Face instead, who in turn wasted no time in rallying his forces for an invasion of earth.

Heroes and villains are forced to team as Darkseid threatens to ruin the entire planet. In the end, even Superman at full strength doesn’t quite deliver the final blow, as the day is only saved thanks to Luthor arriving with some mysterious new power courtesy of the Brainiacs and leading him away on the promise of an even greater prize than the one he was fighting for.
