12 TV Reboots You Didn't Know Were Coming
5. Daria
Daria might just be the most deadpan show ever to be on television, with characters and an artstyle caked in the apathy of Generation X. Though sarcasm remains a staple of Millenials and Zoomers, it's unlikely Daria would have become the mascot of a generation had she been launched five or ten years later.
In 2020 though, the show is set for a reboot as MTV launch MTV Studios, a studio designed to create streaming content to sell to other platforms. Monetising MTV's impressive back catalogue seems to be high on the MTV Studios agenda, as The Real World, Made and Aeon Flux are all planned as well.
The Daria remake might be reframed slightly as Daria and Jodie, and is set to star an older Daria and her schoolfriend Jodie taking on the world as they see it today. Her dry delivery might be the tonic for an increasingly ridiculous world, or it might struggle with the activism heavy mindset of 'Daria types' today.
It has success behind it though, trading not just on Daria's name, but is set to be ran by Grace Edwards, best known for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
