13 CW Actors Who Deserve An Emmy Nomination

For your consideration...

Emmy season is upon us and, as a result, various TV networks have been campaigning in a bid to get the latest seasons of their shows as many nominations at the prestigious awards ceremony as possible. That being said, one that may fail to garner any significant nominations is The CW.

A joint venture between CBS and Warner Bros., the long-running network is renowned for producing an eclectic mix of teenage romance soaps and superhero dramas based on the characters of DC Comics - neither of which are known for their ability to draw award nominations - and thus, all of its shows, and their respective casts, are almost always overlooked during awards season.

While you could argue that, given its penchant for melodramatic storytelling (which often impacts the writing), its shows just can't compete with the high standard of television that will ultimately be nominated, it doesn't change the fact that The CW still boasts a ton of great actors; many of whom have turned in award-worthy performances over the last year - performances that should absolutely be recognised by the Emmys.

13. Stephen Amell - Arrow

Stephen Amell has always been a strong on-screen presence on Arrow, approaching the titular role with the right blend of heart and determination to portray Oliver Queen as the multifaceted and emotionally-tortured individual that he is.

However, he had found himself rather stuck in recent years, hindered by the fact that Oliver hadn't developed all that much over the past few seasons. Thankfully, this year's seventh season (the show's penultimate offering) went out of its way to obliterate the status quo, and as a result, the character found himself in a Super Maximum Security Prison at one end of the season and emotionally bidding his family farewell before joining a multiverse-saving mission at the other.

Being the veteran performer that he is, Amell handled all of the game-changing events incredibly well, providing viewers with an authentic representation of Oliver's genuine fear for his family's safety as he was behind bars. Although, his best performance this season has to go to his surprisingly emotional turn in the season finale, which was so unequivocally raw that it had countless Arrow fans bawling their eyes out.

With that in mind, now is the time for the Emmys to show the Green Arrow the appreciation that he deserves because, well, they aren't going to have many more chances to do so, are they?
