9. The Fifth Doctor
"Dreams are important... Never under estimate them." - Snakedance
While in his fifth incarnation, the Doctor spoke these words to Nyssa and, while he may have meant it in the literal sense, they certainly take on new meaning when applied to the real world conundrum of following one's dreams. Indeed, the simple phrase spoken by Peter Davison in 1983's 'Snakedance' can appear deceptively plain, yet, when considered with the duality the Doctor is known to use in conversation, it takes on the entirely new meaning, a meaning many fans appreciate, allowing the Doctor's words to take on an entirely new dimension of motivation. 'Don't give up on your dreams' he seems to be saying, which is something everyone needs to hear from time to time.
