7. The Grimes Family Aside from Rick and Shane, one back story that would be nice to see more of is the Grimes family as a whole. Rick and Lori didn't exactly do all that well as a couple under pressure up to the point that Lori died (though not before giving birth to a bay girl for Rick and Carl to fend for), so was there something in their past that had already planted seeds of discontent? That's one angle to examine. Who else interacted with the family - friends, relatives, and so on - would be another. And what about Rick and Lori's parents? The key here is that when fans first meet Rick, he's a small town cop, working for the King's County Sheriff's office. Small towns tend to be close knit, so where's everyone else? It is known that Rick's father died prior to the Apocalypse - he talks about that to Carl - but there's a lot of material waiting to be mined here that would help us better know the Grimes family. Especially Lori, who was underdeveloped as a character and was more or less a compilation of cliches on screen.
