13 Reasons Why 13 Reasons Why's Final Season Is A Complete Trainwreck
6. The Terrible Editing And Pacing
One of the many issues with season four is how badly it's put together. Where the earlier seasons were impressive bits of non-linear storytelling, here everything is a complete mess.
The episodes jump along from week to week with many gaps in the viewers' knowledge of events and the effects of the events of each episode (such as the camping trip or the riot) are never explained properly. In fact, frequently the events of one episode are barely mentioned afterwards and don't seem to affect anything.
It's also a stunningly boring season with a fatal lack of tension. All three of the other seasons, even season two, were gripping and binge-worthy as hell because they had a very intriguing mystery at the centre but here there's no real hook at all.
The storyline surrounding Bryce's death is very poorly handled (more on that soon) and although a couple of flash-forwards reveal another student has died, there's no suspense at all other than that.
