13 Reasons Why Season 2 Review: 5 Ups And 7 Downs

2. Kevin Porter's Redemption

13 Reasons Why Mr Porter
Netflix

The trial of the Bakers Vs. the Liberty High school district is the main focal point of Season 2. In other words, it's the so-called reason for the second season to exist. Many of the main characters are called to testify. Among the school's subpoenaed employees is guidance counselor Kevin Porter.

Porter's actions in the first season were well-meaning, but the truth is is that he could've done more for Hannah. And Porter is aware of this. The guidance counselor struggles throughout the whole of the second season and, when called to testify on behalf of the school, he ultimately does the right thing. He admits on the stand that he would've done things differently.

Porter is one of the only moral characters at Liberty High and his actions cost him his job, but he's able to make peace with himself. This storyline played out exactly as it should have.
