13 Reasons Why divided people over its serious subject matter in its first season but, as far as many were concerned, it was still trying to tell the emotionally traumatic story of the struggling protagonist that headlined Jay Asher's 2007 novel. Well, times have certainly changed, haven't they...

Flash forward two years and we're suddenly watching a show about perpetually angry teens who collide in high school corridors, whip out knives when they should be studying and hurl accusations around just because they hate each other. And now? Well, now they find themselves in the midst of a murder investigation.

When the whodunit-themed first trailer made its presence felt, fans began to compare the show to The CW's soapy and tropey YA thriller series Riverdale and, in all honesty, it's easy to see why.

Unfortunately, the new trailer has done little to change those comparisons, as it essentially looks like a slightly more harrowing (and undoubtedly better written) variation of the teen drama as all of the students attempt to figure out who the murderer is.

In fact, the shot of protagonist Clay Jensen getting arrested in the high school gymnasium is identical to a scene from Riverdale's second season, in which the exact same thing happens to Archie Andrews.

Not exactly sure Riverdale is the best show to be channelling here, Netflix.
