13 Worst TV Shows Of 2017
7. APB
Conversely, APB was a tech-thriller show that, in the right hands, could've been this generation's RoboCop: a razor-sharp political satire exploring the dystopian potential of a privatised police force.
Instead, the show dubiously argues for the benefits of a wealthy, Tony Stark-like figure (played by a thoroughly miscast Justin Kirk) buying up Chicago's struggling police force after witnessing the murder of a friend.
What follows is a howlingly facile, shamelessly stupid show with little in the way of the self-awareness that might actually make it work. Worse than anything it's horribly boring, and even the array of new high-tech gizmos it trots out every week couldn't do much to rouse interest.
Natalie Martinez is easily the best thing in it, but she really deserves a hell of a lot better, as does Kirk and the legendary Ernie Hudson.
