While Ichigo's battle with Grimmjow was a well-matched battle, this one wasn't so much. But then, that's exactly what makes it that more awesome. After barely defeating the 6th ranked Espada in Grimmjow he then has to take on the 4th ranked Espada, Ulquiorra.

The two had battled before, with Ichigo coming out on the losing side each time, however, Ulquiorra took things a step further during this battle and actually blows a hole through Ichigo's chest, seemingly killing him. 

But what seemed like a smart move by Uloquiorra actually turned into one of the most brutal and violent beatdowns in the entire run of the show.
