15 Actors Who Have Been In Doctor Who More Than Once
13. Mark Gatiss
Gatiss is one of the 'superfans' who had a hand in the Who revival. Having become a TV name writing and producing The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and writing for the Doctor Who novels in the 1980s, 90s and 2000s, Gatiss pitched a revival plan himself before jumping onboard Russell T Davies's version, writing the third episode, The Unquiet Dead, and contributing regularly ever since. Better known as Mycroft Holmes in Sherlock, which he showruns with Steven Moffat, Gatiss has made two appearances in his favourite show. He's most famous for playing Professor Lazarus in Series 3's The Lazarus Experiment. Before he became an unfortunate and dodgy CGI scorpion beastie (as Jamie might say), he gave a strong performance under layers of aging latex to play a scientist looking for the fountain of youth. He was also married to Thelma from Coronation Street. He also gave a little cameo as a strange creation in the Series 6 finale The Wedding of River Song, the chess playing, giant chinned Gantok.
