There’s something about a giant hamster in a tweed jacket living in a house with giant gerbil tubes that is so absurd and delightful it can be almost distracting.

Coupled with a name as adorable as Cuddlywhiskers, this character would have felt right at home in a Todd Chavez storyline.

Instead Cuttlywhiskers' portrayal by Jeffrey Wright offers one of the most insightful plotlines in Season 3. The story of a character who had everything but never felt satisfied or happy mirrors Bojack’s wants and needs early on in the show; and with Jeffrey Wright’s sombre voice speaking on behalf of the character, he brings weight to a character who by all accounts should have been laughable all the way through his arc.

Jeffrey Wright’s voice really emotes soft sadness, and provides maturity to an episode that involves orca strippers embroiled in a heroin distribution conspiracy.
