15 Anime To Binge After Attack On Titan Ends
8. Vinland Saga
One of the biggest excuses people give when dismissing anime is that it's too far removed from the kind of storytelling they're used to. Well, that argument rings very hollow in the case of Vinland Saga, as the setting makes it feel like a typical historical drama, only in animated form.
Coming again from the incomparable Wit Studio, Vinland Saga is a story of revenge, scheming and Vikings. So, what's not to love? It follows Thorfinn, a young Viking who becomes embroiled in the Danish invasion of England, the succession of the throne, and all-out war. However, all he seeks is revenge on the dastardly Askeladd, the man who killed his father.
You'll get sucked into this protagonist easily, as his backstory is tragic, and his stoic persona is charming. However, the series' most significant selling point is the crisp animation and cinematography. It paints a beautiful picture of 1000s England and fully immerses you in the setting.
The character's emotional turmoil is handled with the utmost subtlety and nuance. But, the action sequences and fun moments slap you right in the face, making it a perfectly balanced treat.
