15 Best Brooklyn Nine-Nine Episodes

2. The Box (Season 5, Episode 14)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine The Box Jake Holt
NBC

The Box frequently tops lists detailing Brooklyn Nine-Nine's best episodes, and it's easy to see why.

A simple but effective premise in which Jake tries to wring a confession from accused murderer Philip Davidson, the episode is boosted to greatness by the core performances of Andy Samberg and guest star Sterling K. Brown.

The Box features only two main characters for the bulk of its runtime and sees Jake and Captain Holt bonding over their shared disdain for their stubborn suspect.

The Box serves as a reminder that underneath all the silly jokes and compelling relationships, Nine-Nine is still a cop show, and Jake is still the best detective in the biz.

Equal parts funny, intense and frantic, The Box represents the best of the show, and between Davidson's raging final confession and the surprisingly bittersweet ending - in which Jake and Holt get ready to start their work all over again - it's already an undeniable classic of the sitcom genre.
