15 Best Horror TV Series

13. Ash Vs. Evil Dead

As with the aforementioned Creepshow, Ash vs. Evil Dead is another example of giving the fans exactly what they asked for – pushing boundaries just enough to be relevant and worthwhile, but staying true to what made the original films so well-received in the first place. In other words: they got creative without getting cocky.

Going in, nobody gave a damn about anyone except Ash, but the series surprised us with genuinely likable and interesting supporting characters. Their actors (Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo) are fantastic, too. Obviously, the stage still belongs to Bruce Campbell, as it bloody well should; regardless, it’s appreciated that they still made such an effort with the supporting cast. The original films didn’t exactly have noteworthy characters besides Ash (well, perhaps the hilarious Jake and Bobby Joe from Evil Dead II), but then again, they weren’t really necessary with Ash centre-stage.

For an extended TV series, interesting side characters are absolutely necessary. It is a shame that Army of Darkness was more or less ignored for its first season; unfortunately, they struggled obtaining the rights from Universal. Oh well, it can’t be helped.

This is exactly what Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn reboot should’ve been.
