15 Best TV Moments Of 2017

6. The Reveal - The Good Place

The Good Place Ted Danson
NBC

The Good Place is yet another absurdly great sitcom from Mike Schur (The Office, Parks & Rec, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and while Season 2 has seen it reaching even higher levels of comedic brilliance, it was the Season 1 finale where the show confirmed its greatness - and more specifically, this single moment.

Heading into it, the long-term future of the show wasn't fully clear. This twist - that The Good Place was actually The Bad Place - undid everything we thought we knew about the show, completely changing the game, giving it much more material to work with, and yet also making complete sense.

What makes it so great isn't just how fiendishly clever it is though - but it is most certainly that, and indeed one of the smartest twists in recent TV memory - but the gradual build to Eleanor's discovery, and the reactions of the cast. The victims are all suitably stunned, but it's Ted Danson who shines brightest here with his maniacal laugh and devilish demeanour, perfectly selling the moment and ensuring it works wonderfully.
