Geoffrey Palmer appeared in three different Doctor Who stories over a 37-year timespan, starting in 1970, and ending in 2007.

His first role was as Edward Masters in the Third Doctor serial Doctor Who And The Silurians, which he followed up with a part in 1972's The Mutants, a story that once again starred Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor.

He then took a break from Doctor Who until 2007, when he returned to the show to play Captain Hardaker in the 2007 Christmas special Voyage Of The Damned, opposite David Tennant's Tenth Doctor, and Kylie Minogue as his companion, Astrid Peth.

Interestingly, his son - Charles Palmer - is also a Doctor Who veteran, directing NuWho episodes such as Smith And Jones, Human Nature, The Family Of Blood, and Oxygen.

Geoffrey Palmer passed away on 5 November, aged 93.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
