Though he's most famous for his role as the body of Darth Vader in a galaxy far, far away, David Prowse is also a name that Doctor Who fans will know from his brief stint in the classic era of the show.

Specifically, Prowse played the powerful Minotaur in the Third Doctor serial The Time Monster, which aired in the spring of 1972.

Prowse's dominating physical presence made him a great fit for this creature, and he proved a memorable part of the serial, despite not appearing in it for very long.

Prowse passed away on 28 November, aged 85.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
