15 Famous Artists You Didn't Know Competed In Eurovision
3. Cascada - Glorious (Germany)
What are They Known For? Cascada is a Eurodance act considing of DJ producers Manian and Yanou and fronted by English-German singer Natalie Horler. Their best known single is Everytime We Touch, which hit high spots in many international music charts, including high positions on American Billboard charts, and earning gold and platinum certifications. Cascada released other hit dance singles like Perfect Day and Evacuate the Dance Floor and they produced six albums in total (four studio and two compilation) before Cascada won the national final to represent Germany for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.
At Eurovision (Twenty-First Place): At the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, Cascada performed eleventh out of twenty-six finalist countries with the song Glorious. Prior to the competition, the German broadcast station Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) investigated the song for plagiarism due to allegations that Glorious sounded too similar to Euphoria, Sweden's 2012 Eurovision-winning song.
It was eventually cleared of plagiarism and Cascada was allowed to compete with Glorious. Despite some pre-show buzz of Glorious as a Eurovision favorite, Cascada only earned eighteen cumulative points, landing Germany in twenty-first place.
After Eurovision: Cascada has focused more on touring and releasing individual singles rather than full-length albums (their last studio album Original Me was released in 2011). Front singer Natalie Horler did give an interview to Eurovision Deutschland that Cascada was in the process of creating two new singles and a music video, but there is no set release date as of yet.
