Any sci-fi fan worth their salt planet can tell you the nineties were a haven for televisual adaptations of genre icon/ The Shining creator Stephen King's long list of classic novels.

Many of these series found themselves in the twilight zone between horror and sci fi, as epitomised by the Langoliers and this small town alien invasion story. Released alongside its bigger budget cousin, the post apocalyptic The Stand, this more contained miniseries saw its cast besieged by the eponymous wish granting extra terrestrial threat in a small American town

And cue the character drama, surprisingly solid performances, and enjoyably cheesy FX work.
