15 Saddest TV Show Moments Of All Time

1. Futurama - I Will Wait For You

And here it is: Television's most soul-crushing, tear-inducing moment. What makes this scene so devastating is the episode before it, which plays out like your typical Futurama scenario.

After visiting a museum, Fry comes across the fossilised remains of his old dog, Seymour, and enlists the Professor's help in bringing him back. Along the way, Bender worries he's being replaced and we get to see what life was like for Fry and Seymour before Fry was frozen.

It's a silly, fun, lighthearted affair, but then at the end of the episode (titled "Jurassic Bark") Fry realises that Seymour lived for another twelve years after he was frozen. Believing then that his dog lived a long and happy life after he was gone, Fry decides not to bring him back and they leave it at that.

The final scene then reveals, through a striking and crushing montage played over Connie Francis' cover of the song "I Will Wait For You", that Seymour didn't live a long and happy life as Fry thought. Rather, he spent twelve years waiting for Fry to return to him, weathering storms as the world around him changed. The episode then ends with him laying down his head and closing his eyes.

It's safe to say that this one will stay with you.
