15 Sci-fi TV Shows That Ended Too Soon
1. Firefly
The Beginning:
Any journalist, writer or keyboard warrior blogger will always feel a sense of trepidation when faced with putting some words together about Firefly.
This is, without argument, the most revered, loved and talked about one-season wonder that’s ever flown onto screens. Too many words of adoration and love of Captain Mal, his crew and their post-Civil War adventures would only appear well worn and tired.
All that needs to be said is that in September 2002, over 14 episodes, sci-fi audiences old and young fell even deeper in love with the genre. This was the power of Joss Whedon's vision.
The End:
Cancelled ten episodes into its solo voyage on screens and brought back to life via a growing media franchise – the Serenity comic series is arguably better than the Serenity movie itself – the success of Firefly in various different guises and the lore that has generated around it could well be the reason a season two or relaunch has never happened.
Fox have made noises they would be open to a new season, but it’s all quiet on the Whedon front. As it stands, fans are left envisaging what could be and checking for updates on the space junk project that is Firefly Online.
We live in hope.
