15 TV Seasons That Are Totally Flawless

3. The Simpsons - Season Four

How could we talk about spotless TV without mentioning The Simpsons? One of the most influential and culturally important shows of all time, Matt Groening's animated sitcom might have slightly overstayed its welcome, but no matter how long they keep dragging it out for, the show doesn't really have anything left to prove.

For its first dozen years or so, The Simpsons was the best thing on TV, and it hit its peak all the way back in its fourth season.

Watching this season even after all these years is an insanely rewarding experience. Before the gimmicks, celebrity cameos and derivativeness of its later years, season four finds the perfect balance between the show's zany comedy style and family values centre.

If that wasn't enough, it also features the most consistent run of great Simpsons episodes, from Homer's tenure as Mr Plow, Marge's clashes with a scheming monorail inventor, Lisa's brief relationship with the ditzy Ralph Wiggum, and Homer's decision to quit church.

Simply put, everything that makes The Simpsons so great can be found here.
