16 New HBO Series You Need To Get Excited About
8. Animals
Animals started out as an independent project, with two episodes airing at last year's Sundance Film Festival. Produced by Mark and Jay Duplass' Duplas Brothers Television, it was picked up by HBO with a two season order.Written by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano, it's an animated comedy that centres on the downtrodden animals living in Earth's least-habitable environment, New York City.
It's a continuation of the Duplass brothers' work with HBO, as they also have the series Togetherness, while it marks the cable network's first animated series in three years (the last being The Life & Times Of Tim), with the animation coming via Starburns Industries, who also work on Rick & Morty.
