9. Anne Reid
Perhaps one of the smaller gaps in supporting cast appearances is that of Anne Reid who first appeared in Series 26, the last of the Classic era. In The Curse of Fenric (1989), she plays Nurse Crane, harsh caretaker for Dr Judson, the man on the top secret ULTIMA programme during WWII. Fenric uses Haemovores - vampire-like Humanoids - as his army and it is by these creatures that Crane meets her end. In an interesting vocabulary-parallel, Reid's second Doctor Who role was as a Plasmavore criminal who arrived at Martha Jones' hospital under the alias of Florence Finnegan. Plasmavores are rather vampire-like themselves as they are known for sucking the blood from creatures across the galaxy and using that blood to mimic their characteristics. Reid's character is on the run from the Judoon, who look to imprison her for her crimes.
