20 Animated TV Shows That Are Practically Flawless

5. Looney Toons

X-Men Animated Series
Warner Bros.

Daffy Duck. Bugs Bunny. Porky Pig. Elmer Fudd. Foghorn Leghorn. Pepé Le Pew. Wile E Coyote and the Roadrunner. These are just a handful of the iconic and beloved characters created by Looney Tunes since 1930, when Warner Bros decided to go against Disney and produce their own short cartoons.

The only real flaw with Looney Tunes expansive back catalogue of slapstick shorts is there often outdated racial stereotypes, which, whilst terrible, aren't enough to take away from the excitable inventiveness of the show's warring central characters.

Gloriously silly and crafted with a speed even Speedy Gonzalez would feel jealous of, the series helped shape an entire generation of TV viewers and filmmakers. Without Looney Tunes, the likes of Tom & Jerry and Scooby-Doo simply wouldn't exist, and an era of animation would have felt far emptier.

From its ludicrous action to the voice work of its trailblazing cast -- Mel Blanc! -- Looney Tunes is one of the greats, even with its reputation for offensive stereotypes.
