A Master of None's second season is a near-perfect elevation of its hugely acclaimed first, ambitiously upping the scale, daringly shifting the location - at least for a time - and making truly epic television out of Dev's (Aziz Ansari) relationship with Francesca (Alessandra Mastronardi).

Granted, the season might be a little tougher to watch in retrospect considering recent sexual harassment allegations made against Ansari - especially as one episode sees Dev dealing with a sexual predator at work - but on its own terms as pure relationship drama, it's some of the sharpest, funniest and most emotionally devastating that TV or cinema has seen in recent years.

Whether or not a third season in fact happens, Ansari has delivered an absolute masterpiece of a second season.
