20 Best 2017 Netflix Original TV Series - Ranked From Worst To Best
6. The Crown (Season 2)
Following its hugely acclaimed, award-winning first season, The Crown's second go-around had a hell of a lot to live up to, and largely delivered as it explored Queen Elizabeth II's (Claire Foy) life and times from 1955 to 1963.
With its beautiful cinematography and unflappable eye for period detail, this is one of Netflix's lushest and most decadently designed drama shows, and it's certainly backed up by superb writing, direction and performances.
Though some fans have complained that season two didn't quite maintain the high standard of its predecessor and too often gave Philip (Matt Smith) dramatic precedent over Elizabeth, the fascinating historical context and probing examination of Britain's most famous marriage still made for thoroughly, undeniably engrossing TV.
With Olivia Colman due to take over as Elizabeth for the next two seasons - which will involve a considerable time jump - it'll be interesting to see whether or not the series' central dynamic is much affected.
