Jessica Jones however, is not a typical superhero. She would reject the label entirely, but there is no denying the strength and power of her character.

Damaged by having her mind toyed with by Kilgrave years ago, and unable to ever forget what happened or trust that anyone's actions are truly their own, she takes to whiskey and keeping those she loves at arms length. Krysten Ritter captures the tragedy of the character perfectly.

Having been given license to explore the consequences and lasting damage of great personal trauma, Ritter portrays Jessica in a different light to any superhero before her, while staying true to the dark and gritty tone of the comics.

Despite the damage and the darkness surrounding the character, she is not without humour. Krysten Ritter has found a wonderful balance between the two aspects, and has become something of an expert in the delivery of Jessica's now trademark sarcasm and insults.
