Something of an in-house villain actor for the BBC, Phil Davis has appeared in antagonistic roles in the likes of Ashes To Ashes, Poldark and Being Human (in which he played the Devil, no less). It's not surprising, then, that Davis has played bad guys in both Doctor Who and Sherlock. In 2008's Fires Of Pompeii, Davis plays Lucius Petrus Dextrus, a Pompeiian prophet in league with the alien Pyroviles who wish to take over the Earth (what else?). The episode saw him face off against both David Tennant and Peter Capaldi, who featured in a guest role. Perhaps more memorably, however, Davis later appeared in Sherlock's opening episode A Study In Pink as the serial killer cabbie, one of the show's best villains behind Moriarty.
