20 Funniest Moments In British Comedy

12. Speed 3 - Father Ted

The Show: For some Father Ted - the misadventures of three Roman Catholic priests who live in a parish on the fictional Craggy Island, located off the west coast of Ireland - represents the pinnacle of British comedy. Running for only three series, the show ended at the absolute peak of its hilarity when actor Dermot Morgan tragically died of a heart attack at only 45 years old. Not wanting to continue without the man who had made the title role so iconic, writers Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews opted not to continue. The flame that burns twice as brightly burns half as long, as they say.

The Setup: After replacing the seedy and womanising Pat Mustard as the island's milkman, Dougal discovers that there's a bomb on the milkfloat - set to detonate if he drops below 4mph. In an eye-watering parody of the movie Speed, Ted catches up with Dougal to attempt to save him.
