2. The One With The Terrible Triplets

In Hyperventilating, Frank Buffay Jnr (Giovanni Ribisi) and his wife, Alice Knight-Buffay (Debra Jo Rupp), are constantly hanging by a thread… with hilarious, weekly consequences.

Not only are they a May-December couple with a mutual low tolerance for stress, but they have insane seven year old triplets Leslie, Chandler and Frank Jnr Jnr. How do they cope? They do not.

In episode one, the girls lock Alice in the bathroom and she has to negotiate for her own release. Why is the bolt suddenly and inexplicably on the outside? Because they're evil geniuses, that's why.

Meanwhile Frank Jr leaves Frank Jnr Jnr in the car while he dashes to the ATM: when he returns minutes later he can’t find the car, and breaks into every Toyota in the lot until he's arrested for vandalism, while seven year old Frank Jnr Jnr is fine, but has been arrested for impersonating a police officer.

Rupp and Ribisi are a perfectly matched manic pairing, as their characters engage in increasingly farcical schemes to keep their family together and sane: schemes which inevitably cause even more chaos and confusion.
