While the Prime Universe version of Star Trek: Discovery's Hugh Culber (temporarily) died in the first season episode "Despite Yourself", the Terran Empire counterpart of the good doctor almost made an appearance in the series' subsequent Mirror Universe arc.

Costume designs were created for Culber in appropriately militaristic Terran attire, but the character was cut from the episodes before filming. According to producer Aaron Harberts, Culber was not seen in the Mirror Universe to maintain the character's image as a good person, untainted by whatever hedonistic or masochistic version would appear in that twisted alternate reality.
