20 Mind-Blowing Facts About Orphan Black

5. But The Dances Were Always Part Of The Characters Along with being a bit of fun character work and a chance to blow off steam (sort of), the Dance Scene does have some more history. Oh and, side note, they remade that scene (presumably to a similar degree of stress when it came to editing it all together) with the actress who plays the young, crippled clone Charlotte seen in the season two finale, and it's almost unbearably cute. Watch at your own risk. Anyway, despite having only been featured for a brief scene in one episode, Tatiana Maslanay's had those dances in the back of her head since day one. In interviews she's revealed that she came up with specific playlists and dances for each character, to help get into their head a little better and decide on how they move differently from each other €“ a big part of differentiating the characters. She gave Cosima a €œrave dance€ (complete with glow sticks), which is a little more traditional from...whatever she's doing in the dance party; the prissy soccer mom Alison was obviously into ballet, with accompanying classical compositions; and of course the secretive and insane Helena was kept private in her trailer. Which makes sense, because her moves in the finished scene certainly look...improvised, to put it charitably.
