20 Mind-Blowing Facts About Orphan Black

6. Especially The Dancing

The end of season two is probably best remembered for two things: the reveal of the male clones, yes, but also the clone dance party. The Clone Club Dance-Off is one of the few moments of pure fun and joy on Orphan Black so far €“ and it was designed to be so. It was meant to be relaxing for everyone involved. In the end, it wound up being sort of the opposite. Fans watching the episode were on the edge of their seat during the whole two minute sequence (trimmed down from a much longer original edit), assuming that something terrible was about to happen. After all, this was the last episode €“ surely there had to be a horrible twist, a tragic cliffhanger in the same manner that the first season left off? Well, they did get that, just not in that scene. As for the crew, they were similarly on edge, albeit for different reasons. It's difficult enough compositing a couple of Tatiana Maslanys in a scene where they're on opposite sides of the frame and talking to each other. It's even harder when there's four of her, in one room, all dancing together, their flailing limbs frequently overlapping each other. What was meant to be a small, fun scene took two days to shoot. Yikes.
