20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Sons Of Anarchy

11. What's In A Name?

Names are pretty important to Sons Of Anarchy. Besides that Stephen King/Bachman business, at the beginning of the show Sherriff Unser looks to be under the control of SAMCRO: in German €œUnser€ mean €œours€. The boat owned by IRA gunrunner Cameron Hayes is named €œDithreabhaigh€, Gaelic for Hermit, which is also pretty apposite. Then there was the original title of the show when it was greenlit by FX back in 2007. Instead of Sons Of Anarchy you could've been tuning into Forever Sam Crow every week, waiting to see who was going to be the next victim of gang warfare. You know, Sam Crow, like SAMCRO, as in the full name of the Sons Of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original. The acronym for the much longer name is pretty cool, but it isn't really all that great as the title for a show. What's it about? An immortal black bird or something? Crazy talk. The network thought the name change along with motorcycles in the promotions for the show would attract their core audience: men. Big burly men who liked to see other big burly men ride motorcycles and fight each other and all that business.
