20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Sons Of Anarchy

10. Chibs's Scars Are Real

Out of all the cast members on Sons Of Anarchy (except maybe one, but that's still to come), Tommy Flanagan looks like the most convincing biker. Or like some sort of ne'er-do-well. That's owing to the actor's early years in Glasgow, where he was the unfortunate recipient of one of the Scottish's cities more violent exports: its smile. Before he became Chibs, Flanagan was best known for early roles in the likes of Braveheart, Face/Off and Sin City, where the distinctive symmetrical scars across both cheeks were integrated into his various violent, beaten and battered characters. That's because those scars aren't the result of hours in the make up chair every time he goes out to shoot a scene. Nope, they are very much real, the result of one of his earlier career paths. Before he got into the acting game Flanagan was a club DJ in Glasgow, and he received those scars as the result of a knife attack on the streets of the city following a gig. Worked out in his favour in the end, so silver linings and all that.
