20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn’t Know About Family Guy

11. William H. Macy Auditioned To Play Brian

Fox

The Family Guy cast list makes for some pretty repetitive reading; bar some specific few supporting characters, Seth MacFarlane voices most of the denizens of Quahog. He's clearly very good at voices, although even the show itself has pointed out that some are a little similar; Dr. Hartman, Carter Pewterschmidt and Seamus' are all identical.

Hell, going outside of Family Guy, Ted and Peter are painfully similar. The most important voices he does are Stewie's, Peter's and Brian's, with the latter essentially his own, fitting the dog's original role as the liberal voice of reason. But things could have ended up sounding a little different; William H. Macy originally auditioned to voice Brian. A pretty big name to have attached to the show in its early days, it's not known why Macy didn't get the part, although we'd still be curious to hear what he did.
