20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Lost

5. Hydra Island Used To Be A Theme Park

That all but a handful of scenes of Lost were shot on Oahu says a lot about the set designers. They took a Hawaiian island and turned it not only into a tropical paradise (pretty easy), but into countless countries from around the world, most impressively a Iraqi war zone. But as well as being incredibly talented, they were very creative with what they already had.

The war torn Iraq was aided by World War II remnants, but the thing that I find most amazing is how they did the Hydra station. A rundown theme park, all the team needed to do was throw in a couple of polar bear cages and some Dharma logos. Some interior sets were built from scratch, but for the exterior shots everything looks so run down because it actually is.
