Donald Glover is perhaps the most talented multi-hyphenate in the world right now, capable of turning his hand to writing TV, directing it, starring in it, working in movies, and making albums in genres from rap to funk, and doing each one incredibly well.

His crowning achievement came last year with Atlanta, the FX series that he created, wrote, directed (part of, anyway), and starred in, which was arguably the best new TV show of 2016 (and one of the year's best overall too).

Billed as Twin Peaks with rappers, it followed Glover's college dropout Earn trying to help his cousin Paper Boi's burgeoning rap career, while navigating his life and its struggles. Tackling issues around race, gender, and class, the show was funny, tragic, super smart and wonderfully inventive.

There's plenty they can do in Season 2, and it'll be fascinating to see what directions they go in. Unfortunately, however, it won't be back until some time in 2018, since Glover's obvious talents have landed him the role of Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo spin-off. Which is a pretty decent stop-gap, I suppose.
