20 Things You Didn't Know About Gilmore Girls
18. Sookie Almost Wasn't In The 2016 Revival
It’s an undisputed fact that post-Gilmore Girls, Melissa McCarthy had the most successful career. After being put on the map with the comedy chick-flick Bridesmaids (2011), the big film roles just kept on coming McCarthy’s way, from the female Ghostbusters reboot to Spy (2015). She is now a twice-nominated Oscar actress and people have practically forgotten she was ever on Gilmore Girls.
But McCarthy’s film stardom was almost too big as creator Amy Sherman-Palladino originally did not invite her back for the ‘A Year in the Life’ revival because she thought her new schedule wouldn't free up enough time for filming. She did, however, clarify that if McCarthy had any spare moment, she would gladly write something in for her character.
Thankfully, McCarthy did make a return to the revival but only during the Fall episode. Although fans picked up on how brief and last minute her appearance was, they were still glad to see the return of legendary chef Sookie St James.
