17. Original Proposed Titles Were "Jerks" & "It's Always Sunny On TV"

Before the show settled on a final title, it had two other proposed names.

According to Glenn Howerton, before they'd even filmed their low-fi pilot, a working title for the series was "Jerks."

Later, the low-budget pilot was filmed under the moniker "It's Always Sunny on TV," referring to the fact that the cast were originally going to be struggling actors living in LA, and also as a nod to the hit A-ha song, "The Sun Always Shines on TV."

It's easy to see how Jerks would be marketable to a TV network, as if nothing else it certainly painted a clear picture of the show's central characters.
