As immediately memorable, even iconic as the series' opening title sequence is, it may also lay claim to being the cheapest title sequence in the history of television.

Charlie Day confirmed that the various shots of tourist spots around Philadelphia - such as Benjamin Franklin Bridge, Penn's Landing on Market Street, Lincoln Financial Field, and so on - weren't filmed by a professional crew, but simply the main cast as they drove around Philly one evening.

Though the footage was filmed on a handheld digital camera, FX opted to use it rather than have a crew re-shoot the montage with professional-grade equipment, and fans wouldn't have it any other way.
