20 TV Shows That Are Practically Flawless

19. Six Feet Under

The general consensus from people who have seen Six Feet Under is that it had lost its way toward the end of its run, pushing its paranormal drama too far in an attempt to keep the tension high and the show's primary idea - that life is both temporary and unpredictable - afloat.

But regardless of your thoughts on the matter, the fact is that there hasn't been a show quite like Six Feet Under, which was created by Alan Ball and follows the Fisher family as they attempt to keep their funeral home business alive whilst identity crises and ill-fated romances threaten to ruin everything.

Featuring monumental performances from Frances Conroy, Michael C. Hall and Lauren Ambrose, Six Feet Under used its morose premise to create a singular humanist work about the complexities of life (with ghosts thrown in for good measure), and even in its weaker moments it remains one of the most surprising and daring dramas ever conceived.
