6. Olivia Colman
Olivia Colman has become a beloved household name for her BAFTA award-winning portrayal of Detective Ellie Miller in ITV's hit drama Broadchurch, a reputable role she returned to for earlier this year and will reprise once again for its recently confirmed third series. As such a formidable on screen force to be reckoned with, it's a real shame that her guest stint in Doctor Who was so disappointing. She appeared as Prisoner Zero in the Series 5 premiere, The Eleventh Hour, and to say that casting her in such a lacklustre role was a missed opportunity would be the understatement of the century. Also known for her comedic roles in Peep Show and Twenty Twelve (for which she has also won a BAFTA), Olivia was unanimously praised for her show-stopping performance in Paddy Considine's 2011 directorial debut Tyrannosaur which led to critics championing a widely supported but ultimately unsuccessful Oscars campaign. Let's hope she returns to Doctor Who with a vengeance one day!
