25 Most Hotly Anticipated New TV Shows Of 2019

12. Lovecraft Country

Get Out Jordan Peele
Universal Pictures

Who: Misha Green (showrunner); Jordan Peele, J.J. Abrams (exec producers); Jonathan Majors, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael K. Williams

What: Based on the 2016 book by Matt Ruff, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Black (Majors) on a road trip across Jim Crow-era America in an effort to find his missing father, battling the very human racist terrors of the time, but also the Lovecraftian spirits that inspired its title

Why: The book was critically acclaimed, especially for mixing together horror with its tackling of racial issues, which is something Get Out did brilliantly too, so Peele should be on solid footing here. Adding Lovecraft into that mix should mean things get pretty weird too, and there's a fascinating, potent mix at work here.
