Showing: TBA Nobody really needs reminding that comic book adaptations are big business, but for a long time it was assumed that Preacher was a stretch too far: the religion-baiting comic was always a little too outrageous to work as a movie and TV studios all seemed a little too squeamish to give it the long-form schedule the material undoubtedly deserves. But then Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg strode in like knights on shiny steeds and gave fans what they've wanted for a long, long time. Hopefully the comedy pedigree there will guarantee that the tone is captured correctly - instead of some sort of Jonah Hex travesty - and the fact that both are card-carrying fans of the property hopefully means fidelity will also be as important as chuckles. Or so you'd think: the pair have already said there will be some divergence though thankfully that seems to be more to accommodate the move to TV, as opposed to just smushing the comic's legacy with their heels. Either way, the central story will still focus on Jesse and his merged demon Genesis on their quest to literally "find God." Expect the Church to be delighted. The Selling Point: The source material is staggeringly good. The Concerns: Can it be adapted without losing too much of what made the source so great? Can the man who made Green Hornet be trusted to make a good comic book adaptation?
