30 Best Kids TV Theme Tunes Of The 1980s

14. Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rr7aIqCE74 Yes, that's correct, it was "Hero" over here in Britain (none of this "Ninja" stuff, which was, apparently, far too violent a word to use at the time!). This 1987 cartoon was huge, with the titular characters selling toys and merchandise by the bucket-load on a global scale, and the theme tune was brilliant. Everyone knew all the words - especially the part that went "Splinter taught them to be fighting teens! Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines (that's a fact, Jack!). Raphael is cool but cruel (gimme a break!), Michaelangelo is a party dude (partyyyy!)". Fantastic.

13. M.A.S.K

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH4uLQDBIGY Now we're talking. We're getting to the legendary intros now. This theme was catchy as hell and the animation sequence that went with it was great. Pretty much nobody knew the exact words at the time, but we all do now. Back in the 1980s, we just made them up (all we really knew was the part that said "masked crusaders, working overtime, fighting crime!"). Originally running from 1985 to 1986, M.A.S.K was one of the few shows in this list that would probably go down well even today, in its original form. Super show, great theme.
